Current Affairs Conversation Classes
Improve your English by talking about what is happening in the world
What happened this week? What story is dominating the news? An election? A political scandal? A corruption case? A natural disaster? A major event that has sparked public debate?
These conversation classes don't follow a fixed syllabus. Every week, we'll work with one of the most important stories in the news.
Around four days before the class, you'll receive an article and the materials I've prepared for you. You'll read about the story, look at the context, learn useful vocabulary and expressions and come to class ready to discuss it.
How does it work?
Before each class, you'll receive everything you need to prepare. We'll normally work with a news article, useful vocabulary and several questions to help you explore the topic.
You'll also receive small assignments to keep using English outside the classroom. You might be asked to write something about the topic, answer a few questions or send me a voice message, for example.
During the class, we'll analyse the article or the video and its wider context, but most importantly, we'll talk.
I want you to become more confident expressing your opinions, building an argument, reacting to other people's ideas and discussing real-world issues in English.
What will we talk about?
We don't know yet and that's the whole point!
We might discuss elections, political developments, scandals, corruption cases, protests, conflicts, social issues, natural disasters or major public debates.
The topic will depend on what is actually happening during the week of our class.

Group: maximum 6 participants
Price: €15 per class
Payment is made at the beginning of each month, according to the number of classes scheduled for that month. This will normally be €45 or €60 per month, depending on whether we have three or four classes.

What level of English do I need?
The classes are designed for learners from B2 level upwards. You don't need perfect English. The whole point is to practise and become more confident.
Do I need to prepare before class?
Yes. You'll receive the materials approximately four days before each class, giving you enough time to read the article, work on the vocabulary and think about the topic.
Will there be homework?
Yes, but it will be practical and directly connected to the topic. You might write a short text, answer questions, record a voice message or complete another short task designed to get you actively using English.
Do I need to know a lot about politics or current affairs?
No. I'll give you the materials and context you need. What matters is that you're curious and willing to discuss different ideas.
How many people are in the group?
A maximum of 6 participants, so everyone has plenty of opportunities to speak.
How much does it cost?
Each class costs €15. At the beginning of each month, you'll pay only for the classes scheduled for that month, normally €45 or €60.
